Class Rules:
Be present at every scheduled class.
Be on time, so we can start on time.
If you cannot be present, let Fr. Jason know in advance by phone or e-mail of your absence.
Be respectful of classmates and of your teacher.
No cell phone use during class.
Bring your textbook to class every week.
Do your homework before class each week. This is minimal and usually only involves:
Completing the “challenge of the week.”
Reading the “taking it home” section from the chapter just covered.
Additional Required Tasks:
Return the Commitment Form. Due Date: September 29th
Your parents must sign this form.
Prove you’re baptized. Due date: October 13th
If not baptized at Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church in Stanley or St. Ann in Berthold, provide a copy of your baptismal certificate to Fr. Jason. If you do not have one, parents should contact the church where your baptism occurred and have them provide a new copy.
If you were baptized at Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church in Stanley or St. Ann in Berthold, let Fr. Jason know that fact and he will verify in our parish records.
Pick a Confirmation Saint and write a report. Due Date: October 30th
Perform some research on saints and choose one whose life you find inspiring or whom you would like to imitate in some way. Pray about your choice. They will be your spiritual companion in life!
Some resources to help you find a saint:
If your baptismal name is the name of a saint, you can use that if you like.
Talk to your parents or grandparents for ideas. Who did they choose and why?
The “Hero of the Week” stories in each chapter of your Chosen textbook.
The Ordinary People, Extraordinary Lives binder at the church.
Type, in your own words, a report on your chosen saint, at least 500 words in length, which answers at least these questions:
When was the saint born and when did they die?
Where did the live?
Why does this Church consider this person a saint?
What are some important facts about the life of this saint?
Why have you selected this saint as your confirmation saint?
Pick a Confirmation Sponsor, have them sign a form. Due Date: October 30th
Your confirmation sponsor is an adult who wills serve as a spiritual role model for you as you go through your confirmation preparation, and beyond. They should be someone who knows and lives their Catholic Faith and who will pray for you during this year, and beyond. You need to choose a sponsor that is:
A Catholic who has been baptized, received the Eucharist and has been confirmed, and who is currently living a sacramental life (e.g., attending weekend Mass and Holy Days of Obligation, and receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation) and is not in an irregular marriage according to Church teaching;
Be at least sixteen years of age;
Not be a parent of the individual to be confirmed.
Able to be present at the Confirmation Liturgy on April 23rd at 10:00 a.m..
Select a sponsor and have them complete the attached “Affidavit to Serve as a Confirmation Sponsor” form.
Attend Mass every weekend and holy day of obligation.
Make a good confession prior to confirmation.
Details for the Confirmation Liturgy:
Rehearsal for the Confirmation Mass will take place on Friday, April 22nd. Sponsors should be present for the rehearsal, if possible.
You must attend the Confirmation Mass on Saturday, April 23rd, 10:00 a.m., at Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church. Arrive by 9:00 a.m. for photos, last-minute details, and a visit with Bishop Kagan.
Dress Code for Confirmation Mass:
Ladies: Clothing that is in good taste is requested, something appropriate for important life occasions such as Church, banquets, and special occasions (but not formal or semi-formal). Shoulders must be covered. No plunging or revealing necklines. No bare midriffs. Skirts and dresses should fall in length below the knee and not be tight or suggestive. Pant suits or full-length pants with an appropriate top are acceptable. Please no shorts or capris. Shoes should be appropriate for outfit and church (no flip flops or tennis shoes).
Gentlemen: Clothing that is in good taste is requested, something appropriate for important life occasions such as Church, banquets, and special occasions. Dress shirt with collar and tie (sports coat or suit jacket optional). Shirts should be tucked in and pants fitted at waist with belt. Shoes should be appropriate for outfit and church (no flip flops or tennis shoes).
